Circular economy is a new model of consumption and production that aims to reduce both the use of virgin materials and the production of waste, which guarantees sustainable growth over time. Our model of production, resource management and consumption "extract, manufacture and dispose of" is leading the planet to an unsustainable situation. Current levels of consumption and production, based on the world's average ecological productive area, exceed the Earth's ecological capacity by 25%, which means that we are using our planet's natural capital at an accelerated and uncontrolled rate.
Here at Uniformidad Laboral Barberá we have taken another step in our commitment to the care of the environment and providing our customers without losing, in any case, the essence of our company: protection and comfort. It is time to think about the environment, and in addition to having implemented a quality and environmental system (ISO 14001 and 9001) we are also studying the recycling of garments.
What is our objective?
Our goal is to extend the life cycle of products and minimize the carbon footprint, an environmental indicator that reflects the amount of greenhouse gases we emit by both direct and indirect effects. We achieve this by applying ECODESIGN, that is, designing, incorporating environmental criteria in the production and development phase of each product, trying to minimize the environmental impact from production to its termination. · Minimizing resources using recycled and local materials. · Maximizing the durability of products. · Minimizing waste by introducing the recyclable term and an adjustment on demand.
How would textil process work?
Our intention is to recover part of the garment already marketed to be able to reuse it.
Why do we have to change our economic model?
The textile industry is the second most polluting industrial industry on the planet. At Uniformidad Laboral Barberá we are committed to the importance of taking care of our planet. According to data provided by the European Parliament, each European person consumes an average of fourteen tonnes of raw materials per year and generates five tonnes of waste each year alone. In total, the EU produces more than 2,500 million tonnes of waste per year, with the impact on the climate being one of the main factors. The constant extraction, use and disposal of raw materials has important environmental consequences, increasing C02 emissions and energy consumption. According to scientists, following this level of activity, by 2030, climate change will be irreversible.
